FAQ Q. What kind of materials do you use? A. I use sterling silver (925), fine silver (999), semi precious gems, pearls, lampwork beads (beautiful glass beads made by artisans), glass beads from Czech Republic and India. Because I like to offer something for every purse and pocket I will also use silver plated wire and findings as these are very good quality and nickel free. Be assured that I will give each item a clear description regarding materials used so that you can be clear what you are buying. If you see a piece listed as silver plated but would like it reproduced in sterling silver please contact me for more information.
Q. What is the difference between sterling silver, fine silver and silver plated?
A. Sterling Silver, 92.5% silver, 7.5% other materials, usually
copper. Everybody knows sterling silver: it makes a perfect medium for
jewellery making. Fine Silver, 99.9% silver or better, won't tarnish in the same way that sterling does as it has less copper. Silver Plating, usually a base metal that has been dipped into silver.
Q. How do I care for my jewellery? A. I find the best way to bring that shine back is with a silver cloth, you can buy one at a good jewellers. You can also use a babies tooth brush and some gentle soapy water. Be careful when using a dip to clean as these can be abrasive and will damage delicate stones like opals and pearls. If you are ever in doubt as to how best clean your jewellery it's probably best to talk to a jeweller. Silver plated jewellery has a bad reputation for tarnish and the plating wearing off although these days the quality of silver plating is much improved and with care can look good for a long time. Like any metal it can be affected by the oils that are naturally present in your skin as well as perfumes and creams etc.
Q. I've seen something on the gallery page, can it still be purchased? A. Most likely its been sold. Drop me an E-Mail, my designs are unique but lets see if I can create something similar for you. Commissions are welcome!
